Imagine being able to create any voice you want - a dramatic villain, a calming meditation guide, a hyper Gen Z explainer - just by typing a few words.
Well, now you can.
Voice Design just dropped inside Wondercraft Studio.
It’s one of the most fun things we’ve built in a while, and it opens up a completely new way to work with audio. No recordings, no voice actors, no cloning — just a blank slate and your imagination.
Build Any Voice in 60 Seconds (Yes, Really)
We wanted to see how easy this actually is. So I set myself a challenge: make a brand-new voice from scratch in under one minute.
I asked the team for ideas. The suggestions ranged from “deep sexy man” to “something like Stitch”. But then someone said “a mob guy”, and I was in.
Here’s how I did it:
- Opened the Voice section in Wondercraft Studio
- Clicked Add Your Own Voice → Design
- Wrote a prompt describing the voice: Gruff, East Coast Italian American accent. Like New Jersey mob boss
- Hit generate
Within seconds, I got a few voice samples to pick from.
Sample 2? Absolute perfection. I saved it and just like that - it was in my voice library, ready to use in whatever I wanted.
No Recordings. No Cloning. No Limits.
This isn’t cloning someone’s voice. You’re not uploading recordings or impersonating anyone.
You’re building something new. original voices, created by AI, based on how you describe them.
It works best when your prompt includes:
- Tone – e.g. “warm and friendly,” “cold and robotic,” “sleepy and slow”
- Accent or region – e.g. “Southern US,” “light Scandinavian accent”
- Vocal quality – e.g. “high-pitched and energetic,” “deep and gravelly”
- Style or personality – e.g. “formal and precise,” “casual and cheeky,” “villainous and theatrical”
You can be as imaginative as you want.
Just avoid name-dropping celebrities, it’s not designed to replicate famous voices, and won’t generate them anyway. But if you describe the vibe or character, it usually nails it.
Why We Made This
Because voice choice is a huge part of storytelling. And the current options are kind of… limiting. You either pick from a list of available voices or go down the cloning route.
Voice Design changes that.
Now, you can:
- Create a voice that actually fits your brand
- Build custom characters for podcasts or fiction
- Design internal voices that sound like your team (not a default robot)
- Make multilingual or regional variants of the same character
Or just… mess around. Honestly, it’s really fun.
Tips for Better Prompts
From early tests, here’s what works best:
- Keep it descriptive but simple. One sentence is often enough.
- Include emotion or intent. e.g. “soothing voice for bedtime stories” works better than just “soft voice.”
- Don’t be afraid to iterate. Try a few versions of the same prompt, it’s fast.
